Willie Colón - trombonist, composer and producer - and Eddie Palmieri - pianist, composer and bandleader - were both giants of Latin music, and both New Yorkers of Puerto Rican descent. They recorded for the Fania label, and were both enormously influential in developing Salsa and Latin Jazz. Willie Colón died in February 2026, while Eddie Palmieri died last August. We pay tribute to both in the first half of this programme.
