Kokoko! are an electronics-driven outfit from Kinshasa with a couple of UK gigs coming up in the autumn.

Mexican DJ, Coco Maria, has a new collection of alternative Latin dance pieces.

Ekiti Sound is musician, producer and vocalist Leke, from Nigeria via London.

Nickodemus is founder of NYC’s Wonderwheel and well-travelled DJ/producer.

Alogte Oho is Ghanaian gospel singer, backed by his Sounds of Joy.


Namian Sidibé is a young Malian singer with an album of praise songs.

Oki is a Japanese musician from the indigenous Ainu people, playing the tonkori, an ancient harp.

Luzmila Carpio is renowned Bolivian indigenous singer and cultural ambassador.


Joachim Cooder, percussionist and sideman to his father and many musical luminaries, made a lovely folk-country album based around the electrified mbira. He is doing a short tour of Ireland including Thursday August 31st in Whelans.


“River of Revenge” collects early Brazilian country music, a precursor to musica seraneja, from the early days of recording up to 1961.

75 Dollar Bill is the New York duo of guitarist Che Chen and drummer Rick Brown, coming to the Workman’s Cellar Sept 9th.

Sanam are a Beirut-based sextet with free-rock settings of Arabic poetry.

Asynchrone are a French collective formed to honour the music of Ryuichi Sakamoto with a debut album on the way.

Marc Ribot is an American guitarist who has collaborated with Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, John Zorn and many others.


Miranda is a Portuguese singer, previously with O’QueStrada quintet.

Maja Milinkovic, from Sarajevo, sings songs drawing from both fado and sevdah styles.

Yungchen Lhamo is a Tibetan spiritual singer-songwriter releasing her seventh album.

Brigid Mae Power is an Irish artist with her own style of dreamy folksong.

Bex Burch is a percussionist, sound artist and leader of Vula Viel.
