Playlists
On this week’s programme:

’Tis the season of WOMAD, and with it come recordings from the very first Womad festival in 1982.

Real World are also re-releasing six African albums from the 1980s and ’90s.

Madalitso Band are a very engaging acoustic duo of one-time street musicians from Malawi.

Sahel Sounds have compiled an album from last year’s Saharan WhatsApp recordings.

BKO are a fiery Malian and French outfit originally formed in Bamako in 2012.

Lalalar are an Istanbul trio combining Turkish retro with psych rock on their debut album.

The remainder of the programme is music from Ukraine, for which I am indebted to Daniel Rosenberg, publicist, radio producer and journalist. Thanks to him and heartfelt support to the Ukrainian people in their terrible suffering.
