On this week's programme:


Guitarist and producer, Justin Adams, joins forces with the leader of Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, Mauro Durante.

Berlin label Habibi Funk has issued a new collection of archive material from the Arab world.

Omar Khorshid, Egyptian guitarist, accompanied many of the greats of Arabic music in the 1970s.


Juçara Marçal, vocalist with Metá Metá, has a powerful new solo album, while Thiago França, saxophonist and fellow band member, leads a carnival big band as a vehicle for inclusion and respect.

Orquestra Afro-Brasileira have their origins 80 years ago, now recreated with one original member overseeing.

Maria Portugal is a Brazilian drummer, singer and composer, now based in Germany.

Tempura and Edgar Valente rework Portuguese folksongs from the central region of Beira Baixa.


Mec Yek are Slovakian sisters on vocals, backed by Jaune Toujours’ Piet Maris and colleagues.

“Kulintang Kultura” is a collection of Philippine gong music, both traditional and contemporary, from the diaspora.

King Champion Sounds draw from several underground multi-genre outfits including Holland’s The Ex.

“Wood & Steel” is a flute encounter between the Korean bamboo version and the European metal variety.


Baba Sissoko and his three master musicians marry West African style to jazz.

The Tamala trio are two Senegalese musicians on kora, thumb pianos, and vocals with the violin of Belgium’s Wouter Vandenabeele.

Kadialy Kouyate is a Senegalese kora player resident in London.

Cuban piano-man Omar Sosa continues his partnership with Senegal’s Seckou Keita.
