On this week’s show:

Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness (BCUC) are an exhilarating force straight outa Soweto.
Antoine Dougbe made 3 albums with Benin’s finest, the Orchestra Poly-Rythmo, in 1970s and early ’80s.

The late Ebo Taylor was a highlife and afro-beat bandleader from Ghana. He studied music in London in the early ’60s along with Fela Kuti, and had a successful career in his home country combining highlife music with funk and jazz. In the early years of this century he received international recognition and he recorded more albums with the Berlin Afrobeat Academy, appeared at Womad and toured widely. R.I.P.

Dub Colossus, who brought Ethiopian and global influences into dub, release the last recordings featuring their late leader Nick Page.
Dan Harper as Invisible System, with similar influences, release a diverse collection of dubs.
Adrian Sherwood, dub producer and founder of On-U Sound, releases a dark and moody collection.
Eric Hilton, one half of Thievery Corporation, has a solo album of beats ’n’ grooves.

Tinariwen recorded their new album in exile in Algeria with contributions from younger musicians and singers.
Constantinople, led by setar man Kiya Tabassian, join forces again with the voice and kora of Ablaye Cissoko.
Stelios Petrakis is a Cretan lyra player, backed by Giorgios Xylouris, Bijan Chemirani and others.
Catalan producer-musician Raoul Refree works with southern Italian singer Maria Mazzotta
