Shotnez are a quartet formed in New York, based in Tel Aviv.

Gyedu-Blay Ambolley is a veteran saxophonist and band-leader from Ghana.

Angelique Kidjo from Benin joins forces with Tunisian trumpeter and arranger, Ibrahim Maalouf.


Star Feminine Band are teenagers from a small village in Benin releasing their second album.

Raz and Afla are a duo from Tel Aviv and Ghana respectively, based in London.

Maajo are a fusion of African and Scandinavian musicians, based in Finland.

Tiken Jah Fakoly is a veteran Ivorian reggae artist.

Aswad were at the forefront of the homegrown British reggae scene of the 1970s; their drummer, vocalist, and longest-serving member, Drummie Zeb, has died.


Halva are a sextet hailing from France, Belgium, Germany and Israel, exploring links to Yiddish music.

Ali Dogan Gönültas has researched 150 years of musical history from his native town of Kigi in Turkey.

Simon Shaheen, oud-player and violinist, plays the music of Mohamed Abdel Wahab, the father of modern Egyptian song - recorded in 1990.

Liraz is Israeli-born singer exploring her Iranian heritage in recordings from Istanbul.


Belgian violinist and composer, Catherine Graindorge, enlists Iggy Pop for some atmospheric spoken word.

Misía is a veteran fado singer from Portugal who revived the genre back in the 1990s.

Ana Alcaide from Toledo is a singer and player of the violin and nickelharpa.

Maija Kauhanen is from Finland and plays the kantele and other instruments.
