Sai Galaxy aim to recreate the atmosphere and sound of ’70s and ’80s West Africa.

Lalalar are an Istanbul trio with a debut album drawing on ’80s Turkish music, rock and punk.


Australian DJ-producer Mista Savona conjured up the Cuba-Jamaica cross-fertilization.

Cimarrón play joropa music from the plains of Colombia.

Pedro Lima is a prominent band-leader from São Tomé & Principe.

The Movers were an early ’70s sensation of South African soul.


New Asia are a Mongolian outfit from Altai, and they and Uutai, Khara and Vedan Kolod all have their roots in Siberia and the Far East.

L’Attirail are a French band with an on-the-road soundtrack reminiscent of the wide open spaces of the US.

Pharis and Jason Romero are folk artists from rural Canada.


Paola Angeli is an avant-garde Sardinian musician with a prepared guitar and electronics.

IDR is an Italian-American project recorded in Naples and mixed in New York.

Meszecsinka is a Hungarian band with an ambient-psychedelic style.
