Sofiane Saidi is a French-based Algerian singer with an excellent band and a shot of rai.

Babylon Trio play electronically-powered Arabic styles, led by Arkan Mushtak from Baghdad.

Moulay Ahmed El Hassani performs traditional Moroccan songs in a contemporary style.

Luc Mishalle & Marockin Brass combine afro-jazz with Moroccan gnawa.


Evritiki Zygia from Northern Thrace have line-up of traditional instruments - bagpipe, lyre, kaval - with a Farfisa keyboard.

The Afro Celts are back. Again! The new album includes a “Migration” suite of songs - here in full.


Afro-space-jazz man Idris Ackamoor is in the Sugar Club on Friday, and drummer, Antonio Sanchez is there on Tuesday - it’s Jazz week in the Sugar Club.

Chucho Valdes is revisiting a small-group Cuban album made in 1972 and releasing a sequel.


Dawda Jobarteh, from The Gambia and based in Denmark, takes the kora into new areas.

Multiculturalists Rafiki Jazz, “the best of British”, have a preview of their new album.

Eric Bibb has his heart on his sleeve, his head in the right spot, and friends on hand.
