Vladimir Lenhart, from Belgrade, brings his ethno-noise productions to traditional folk song and singers.


Peter King, Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, band-leader, and Afro-jazz musician, has died.

Immy Owusu, of Ghanaian and Dutch ancestry, is resident in Australia.

Les Mamans du Congo are from Congo Brazzaville with Frenchman Rrobin on production.

Al Bilali Soudan, from Timbuktu, play an improvised desert-style based on the tehardent lute.


Shono are from Buryatia in the far East of Russia and combine tradition with Western instruments.

Samander and Mizrob are two of the bands featured on the compilation “Lost in Tajikistan”, produced by Lu Edmonds.

Oghlan Bhakhsi grew up in Iran but plays the dutar and sings the music of Turkmenistan.

Bilja Krstić is from Belgrade and is a collector of songs from the surrounding countries of Eastern Europe.


La Cantiga de la Serena, a trio from Puglia, rework the traditional music of the Mediterranean basin.

Soema Montenegro of Buenos Aires draws on the diverse styles of Latin America.

Luzmila Carpio is a champion of indigenous peoples from her native Bolivia and beyond.

Chango Spasiuk, major chamamé accordionist from Argentina, worked remotely with many musicians during covid.

Brazilian guitarist, Yamandu Costa, collaborates with Canarian timplé master, Domingo El Colarao.
