On this week’s programme:


Le Vent du Nord are the leading purveyors of French-Canadian folk tradition.

Leyla McCalla is a US folk artist of Haitian heritage, previously part of the Carolina Chocolate Drops.

Kobo Town is led by Drew Gonsalves from Trinidad, based in Toronto.

L’Entourloop are French reggae outfit with guests from Guinea, Trinidad and Jamaica/New York.

Stephen Marley has curated a 7-track reggae tribute to Nina Simone, including Jamaica’s Etana.


Oliver Nayoka is a Nigerian highlife bandleader with a Congolese guitar style.

Jembaa Groove are a Germany-meets-Ghana duo from Berlin.

Juanita Euka is a Congolese-born, Buenos Aires-raised, and London-based singer, featured in several bands.

Analog Africa’s “Saturno 2000” focusses on Mexico’s “rebajada” movement of slowed-down cumbia.

Noori & His Dorpa Band represent the Beja culture of coastal Sudan.


John McLaughlin, guitarist extraordinaire, visits the National Concert Hall, Dublin in May with his jazz trio.

Jeff Parker, another guitar virtuoso, with a career in several bands including Tortoise, has a solo album out.


The Entourage ensemble combined folk, jazz, the avant-garde and interpretive dance in legendary 1970’s performance.

Flock are an experimental UK quintet assembled by percussionist Sarathy Korwar.

Catrin Finch is a Welsh harpist, and this is her third collaboration with kora player Seckou Keita.
