On this week’s programme:

Eva Marisol (La Marisoul) Hernández joins forces with the San Antonio Tejano coniunto, Los Texmaniacs, for a Mexican-American repertoire.

“Ecuatoriana” celebrates the work of Ecuador’s Polibio Mayorga in his various incarnations.

Mestizo is a UK-Colombian outfit drawing from Ondatropica, Steam Down, La Perla, Frente Cumbiero and more.

Brazilian bandleader Letieres Leite sadly didn’t live to see the final result of his reworking of Moacir Santos’ 1965 album.


Sheikhs Shikhat is Laila and her ensemble playing Moroccan chaabi songs with the Mâäk collective and the B’net Chaabi singer-percussionists.

Les Abranis were a pioneering Algerian band, marrying funk-rock with Amazigh traditional style.

Acid Arabare the Parisian duo of Guido Minisky & Hervé Carvalho with guest vocalists.

Turkish multi-instrumentalist Omar Faruk Tekbilek gets a variety of remixes including Yasmin Levy on vocals.


La Tène are a French-Swiss trio with folk instrumentation and an avant-garde approach.

The “Chlopi” album imaginatively recreates the 19th century wedding music of a Polish village.

Faith i Branco are formed around the UK’s accordionist Faith Ristic and Serbian violinist Branco Ristic.


Gulab Afridi is a foremost Pakistani rubab master from Peshawar.

Driss El Maloumi is a Moroccan oud player with part one of a project that will include a composition for oud and orchestra.

Peter Culshaw, World Music journalist, plays piano with Indian bansuri flautist and vocalist.

Roopa Panesar, from the UK, is a rare female virtuoso on the sitar.
