Paolo Angeli is a Sardinian guitarist and composer, using prepared guitar, electronics and throat-singing.


Les Filles de Illighadad are a female Tuareg trio from Niger.

The Rrways compilation is drawn from performances by 80 artists of the Amazigh, or Berber, people in Morocco.

Hassan Wargui, also from the Berber tradition, is a banjo player from the Anti-Atlas region of Southern Morocco.

Atine are a five-piece female Iranian group based in France.


Burkinabe singer, Kady Diarra, recorded her album in the Ardeche during lockdown last spring.

Kasai Allstars invoke the spirits with trance-imbued Congotronic rhythms.

Alfred Kpebesaane, player of the Ghanaian gyil, joins forces with Brooklyn’s Brittany Anjou on piano and vibes.

Chicago visual artist and DJ Damon Locks produces a lockdown album of solidarity and resistance.


Olcay Bayir is a Kurdish singer from Turkey, long based in London.

Rhiannon Giddens, of Carolina Chocolate Drop fame, is paired with Italian stalwart of the Irish music scene, Francesco Turrisi.

Fay Hield is an English folk-singer, researcher and academic, and partner of Jon Boden.

Krononaut is Leo Abrahams’ and Martin France’s vehicle of exploratory improvisation.

Howie Lee is a Beijing producer and electronic artist.
