Made Kuti is Fela’s grandson whose record comes out as a twin package with his dad’s (Femi).

Edo Funk originated in Benin City in Nigeria at the end of the 1970s.


Antonis Antoniou is a Cypriot musician from Monsieur Doumani and Trio Tekke.

Smadj - Jean-Pierre Smadja of Tunisia - spices his oud music with flutes and sax.

Electric Jalaba are a London-Moroccan collective featuring Simo Lagnawi.

Samba Touré is a Malian singer, guitarist, and one-time protégé of Ali Farka Touré.

Ballaké Sissoko is Malian kora virtuoso and member of 3MA trio.

Wau Wau Collectif are a Senegalese gathering of musicians, poets and beat-makers with Karl Jonas Winqvist on production.


Afrika Mamas are a Zulu acapella group of single mothers.

Sam Mangwana is a veteran vocalist who has accompanied many of the legends of Congolese music.

French-Algerian outfit Zoufris Maracas bring poetry and politics to play.

Dom La Nena is a Brazilian cellist and singer, resident in Paris.

Danish singer Helene Blum sings with her partner’s folk band.

Mariza sings the songs of fado legend Amalia Rodrigues.


Vaev are a Danish duo combining folk and electronics.

Afro-Caribbean folkie in Marseille David Walters has an all-star quartet.

Chinese Pipa meets Japanese shakuhachi in the oriental garden - Wu Man and Kojiro Umezaki.

Araki Kodo plays solo shakuhachi.
